South Korea's LG Uplus Corp. unveiled its Media Agent, an artificial intelligence (AI) service for Internet TV (IPTV).
The company's AI assistant is a service where AI acts like a personal assistant, helping users with various tasks.
The Media Agent offers three main features.
The AI Curation feature recommends content such as online video services (OTT), live broadcasts, and video on demand (VOD) tailored to individual preferences.
There's also the ixi voice chatbot feature, which allows users to ask questions via a remote control with a built-in microphone.
The AI Subtitles feature extracts speech from videos to generate Korean subtitles within 10 minutes of the broadcast.
By utilizing OpenAI's speech-to-text (STT) technology, LG Uplus has achieved a subtitle accuracy rate of up to 98%.
To implement this feature, LG Uplus applied on-device AI technology to its set-top boxes, making it the first in the domestic IPTV market.
It plans to support English subtitles next year.
