LG Uplus Corp., a South Korean mobile telecom service carrier, announced on Monday that it is deploying a smart safety solution at waste disposal company Ecorbit's work site.
The two companies will provide smart safety devices equipped with Internet-of-Things (IoT) sensors to the sites of Ecorbit's Energy Business Unit, and develop six additional artificial intelligence (AI) video safety solutions to detect and prevent safety risks at work sites.
LG Uplus plans to first introduce the safety solution to a medical waste incinerator in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, and then expand the application to 11 incinerators run by the company within the first half of the year.
"We will successfully build a solution in Ecorbit and expand our smart safety business to various industrial sites," said Lim Jang-hyeok, head of LG Uplus' corporate new business group.
