LG Uplus Corp., South Korea’s third-largest mobile carrier, said on Friday that it has entered into a partnership with LS Electric Co. to expand their smart manufacturing innovation business for small- and medium-sized companies.
The two companies signed a business agreement on Thursday and have agreed to build a high-quality smart factory for small businesses by combining LG Uplus's data collection and monitoring capabilities, network solutions, and security-related solutions, with LS Electric's smart factory platform "Tech Square."
Tech Square is the first open smart factory platform in South Korea, providing mentoring and guidance to establish smart factory roadmaps for each manufacturing industry and recommending and matching suppliers that offer optimal solutions. The platform is currently being utilized by over 1,100 customers.
"We aim to drive innovation in domestic smart manufacturing by combining the platform, solution, and network capabilities of both companies," said Lim Jang-hyuk, head of LG Uplus's new business group.
