LG Uplus Corp. announced on Thursday that it would officially kickstart producing original content, following its pilot program about desserts released last month.
The pilot program, in which four male actors go around South Korea looking for shops known for pastries and other types of desserts, was one of the 10 most popular shows on Uplus Mobile TV.
LG Uplus went through a corporate restructuring late last year to house Studio X+U under the Chief Content Officer and subsequently established a content production center. Following the overhaul, the company also hired well-known TV producers.
The mobile network operator will launch two more shows this month, one featuring K-pop idols and another an audio drama.
The content produced by LG Uplus will also be distributed to TVing and Spotify.
“Our team will contribute to the company’s actualization of U+3.0 by showcasing new and defiant content,” LG Uplus CCO DJ Lee said.
