LS Electric Co., a South Korean electric power and automation equipment maker, has achieved a major milestone by obtaining international standard certification for its research and development (R&D) process security.
The company said on Monday that it recently received IEC 62443-4-1 security certification for industrial automation product development processes from TUV SUD, a leading global testing and certification agency.
The IEC 62443-4-1 certification is a new international standard that evaluates a holistic approach to security, including the requirements of the development process.
With the IEC 62443-4-1 certification, LS plans to accelerate the supply of automation solutions to data centers and smart factories that require the highest level of security solutions. The increasing potential cyber threats in the industrial automation sector have made international security standard certification a critical requirement for these solutions.
In addition to the certification, LS Electric also plans to sign a business agreement with TUV SUD to promote mutual cooperation in services related to electrical safety, cybersecurity, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI).
