Samsung Electronics Co. held on Tuesday the Samsung AI Forum 2023 with the theme of "Super AI for a Better Tomorrow" at the Suwon Convention Center in Gyeonggi Province.
This year, global experts in AI and computer engineering, such as Tenstorrent CEO Jim Keller, renowned for semiconductor design, and the professor at the University of Montreal Yoshua Bengio, gathered to discuss the future direction of next-generation semiconductors and other related topics.
"Generative AI technology is emerging as an innovative means to address various challenges faced by humanity," said Kyung Kye Hyun, Head of the Device Solutions Division at Samsung Electronics, during the online opening ceremony. "The need for in-depth research on technology safety, trustworthiness, and sustainability is being raised."
He also highlighted Samsung's dedication to using AI to optimize semiconductor development and manufacturing processes and strengthen the AI ecosystem by providing core components for AI computing systems, including high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips.
Jim Keller lectured about the theme "Own Your Silicon." He proposed ways to overcome the limitations of AI technology through innovations in next-generation semiconductor design. Keller has been a leader in developing application processors like Apple's A series used in the Apple iPhone.
Prof. Yoshua Bengio delivered an online keynote speech in which he introduced safe algorithms to prevent the results of AI technology based on large-scale language models (LLM) from diverging from the developers' intentions.
