South Korea's Hyundai Engineering Co., an engineering solutions provider for plants, architecture, infrastructure and asset management, on Wednesday said it held a briefing session to demonstrate its joint development of next-generation membrane bio reactor (MBR) technology with the construction unit of CJ Logistics and builder HL Ecotech.
The MBR process is among those used in membrane separation for sewage and wastewater treatment and combines biological treatment and separation. Since last year, the three companies have maintained cooperation to improve and raise the efficiency of the process.
The trio has advanced conventional MBR process technology as exemplified by their development of a system to reinforce total phosphorus removal.
Under the conventional MBR process, the concentration of dissolved oxygen in return water, or treated water passing through the sedimentation facility, increases due to air injected for cleaning the separation membrane, lowering phosphorus removal efficiency.
Hyundai Engineering said it devised a new method that systematically manages phosphorus treatment efficiency to stabilize treated water quality.
