South Korea’s largest cloud computing service provider LG CNS has formed a generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) alliance with Google Cloud to pursue strategic collaboration in the field.

LG CNS on Thursday said it held on Tuesday a high-level executives meeting at the conference Google Cloud Next 2023 in San Francisco.

At the meeting, LG CNS CEO Hyun Shin-kyun and Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian discussed technical and business cooperation to expand GenAI and Google Cloud.

Both sides also spoke of setting up a global hotline to provide timely support for new GenAI technologies. Based on this, they will jointly develop Google’s GenAI unit.

LG CNS focuses on GenAI by securing and verifying basic technology required for the sector through a GenAI development team, which provides business value helpful to customers. The company also has four major AI think tanks conducting R&D of language, vision, data and engineering.

"We will further solidify our position as a leading operator in all areas of the cloud," CEO Hyun said. "Through strategic collaboration with Google Cloud, we will further strengthen our domestic technical and business capacities in generative AI."
