South Korea's Lotte Data Communication Co. signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a domestic autonomous robot service company Neubility on Feb. 28 to jointly develop autonomous driving security and safety robots, the company said on Monday.
The robots, equipped with sensors and other Internet of Things (IoT), will operate at low speeds in areas like factories and building exteriors.
They are designed to detect signs of security breaches and safety hazards, preventing accidents before they happen.
Lotte Data Communication will share data on physical security implementations at sites and provide IoT-based physical and industrial safety devices.
Neubility will handle the autonomous mobility and robot operation sectors.
The two companies plan to proceed with the development of hardware for autonomous driving security and safety robots, integration of related systems, field testing, and joint marketing in the future.
