South Korea’s Doosan Enerbility Co. said on Monday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Pelagus 3D, a Singapore-based platform company for ordering parts in the ship and marine sectors, to exchange and jointly market metal additive manufacturing (AM) technology.
AM, also known as metal 3D printing, is a technology that manufactures metal components by layering metal powder one layer at a time.
Under the agreement, the two companies will collaborate to participate in the online platform for ordering metal AM parts in the ship and marine sectors, as well as planning and developing joint marketing for domestic shipbuilders.
Additionally, they will explore new business opportunities through joint marketing in the aerospace, shipbuilding, and marine sectors in Singapore.
Doosan Enerbility will be responsible for supporting the design, production, and quality of AM parts related to ships and marine, while Pelagus 3D will handle online platform operations, the discovery of AM technology-applied parts, and design and certification.
