South Korea's SGC eTEC E&C Co. said on Tuesday it has won a 204.7 billion won ($158 million) order to build epichlorohydrin (ECH) and chlor-alkali (CA) production facilities in Malaysia.
The construction of the ECH production plant is a project undertaken in collaboration with OCI-Kumho. It will be established in Samalaju Industrial Park, Sarawak, Malaysia. OCI-Kumho is a joint venture between OCI Holdings' Malaysian subsidiary OCIM and Kumho P&B Chemicals.
Once operational, the plant will produce 100,000 tons of bio-based epoxy material ECH annually. The completion period is 20 months from the groundbreaking day.
The CA production facility, which serves as a raw material for ECH, is another project in cooperation with OCIM and will also be located in Samalaju Industrial Park.
The annual production capacity is 110,000 tons, and the construction period is 19 months from the start date.
