The project will be supplied with advanced equipment and facilities that integrate and control the core logistics process from tire raw materials to manufacturing to finished products.
In particular, robot systems such as self-developed gantry robots, automated guided vehicle (AGV), and new electrical monorail system (EMS) are expected to be introduced to significantly increase process and transfer efficiency.
Responding to rapidly increasing demand in the North American market, Hankook Tire is expanding its production facilities for passenger cars and light truck tires.
Additionally, it is establishing its first manufacturing base for truck and bus tires in the US with an investment of about 2 trillion won.
Hyundai Elevator Logistics Division, the predecessor of Hyundai Movex, also handled the logistics automation for the Tennessee plant, which was completed in 2017.
Recently, Hyundai Movex further solidified its global footprint by supplying solutions to the Chinese, Serbian, and Southeast Asian operations of two major Chinese tire companies, Linglong and Sailun.
This latest order propels Hyundai Movex's cumulative annual order amount for 2023 to nearly 400 billion won ($306 million), marking its best yearly performance since its inception.
