LG releases world's first connection cable-free OLED TV

LG Electronics Inc. on Thursday announced its release of the world's first wireless OLED TV, LG Signature OLED M.

As the world's first OLED TV to have 4K 120Hz wireless transmission technology on the largest OLED screen of 97 inches (246 cm), this model needs no connection cables except the power cord.

LG Electronics developed this innovative device to eliminate the inconvenience of using a bunch of cables to connect a massively big TV to external devices like game consoles and set-top boxes.

With a 97-inch OLED screen measuring about 246 cm diagonally, the LG Signature OLED M has a Zero Connect Box that wirelessly transmits high-definition video within 10-meter radius from the screen.

The box supports HDMI 2.1, USB, radio frequency, LAN and Bluetooth for connecting peripheral devices.

Completed with LG Electronics' self-developed technology, this wireless audiovisual transmission solution transfers large volumes of data up to three times faster than Wi-Fi 6.

"Users can immersively enjoy a super-large screen in a clean space without connection cables except the power cord, going beyond the conventional method of organizing peripheral devices with a separate storage cabinet or cable box," LG Electronics said in introducing the product.

The company on Thursday began presales of the LG Signature OLED M at home appliance stores and online brand markets nationwide, with the official release coming on July 20. Sale of the model will begin in South Korea and later expand to markets like North America and Europe.
