South Korean game developer DevSisters Corp. announced on Friday that its globally popular mobile game "Cookie Run: Kingdom" has opened pre-registration in China on the official Chinese website and social channels. This comes as part of their full-scale localization efforts since the joint publishing venture with Chinese game companies Changyou and Tencent Games was revealed last month.
As part of the pre-registration process, DevSisters has unveiled localized videos and reward events for participants. Those who pre-register will receive game rewards such as special cookie cutters, crystals, experience candies and coins.
"Cookie Run: Kingdom" has already achieved immense success since its release in 2021, surpassing over 50 million cumulative users worldwide. It has also earned top spots in the game rankings of major overseas countries such as the US and Japan, as well as in Korea, and has won several awards, including the 2021 Korea Game Awards and the Pocket Gamer Mobile Games Awards.
A company official expressed optimism about the game's future in China, stating, "We expect the casual genre, which is rising as the mainstream of the mobile market, to continue to demonstrate competitiveness to Chinese users. We will do our best to make 'Cookie Run: Kingdom,' which has already proven its casual gaming appeal globally, a representative case of successful service in China."
