Hyundai Mobis, a global auto parts vendor and affiliate of Hyundai Motor Group, said on Monday that it has co-developed an electronic levelling control (ELC) system with Hyundai Motor Co. that can adjust the vehicle height according to different driving conditions.
The ELC system can raise or lower the vehicle height by up to 6 centimeters using an electric hydraulic pump. The system automatically adjusts the height based on factors such as driving speed and load. It can also adjust the height of each wheel individually or manually.
The companies said the ELC system can offer various benefits for electric vehicles, highway driving and commercial mobility.
For electric vehicles, the system can protect the high-voltage batteries installed on the bottom of the vehicle by raising the height. For highway driving, the system can reduce air resistance and increase cruising distance by lowering the height.
For commercial mobility such as purpose-based vehicles (PBV), the system can enhance convenience by changing the height when loading and unloading cargo or when passengers board or exit.
