Samsung Electronics Co. announced on Friday the release of its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S23 series, in 55 markets around the world, including South Korea, the US, the UK, France and Australia. The South Korean electronics giant plans to launch the new series in about 130 countries by March.

The Galaxy S23 series is equipped with a 200-megapixel camera featuring night mode in all three models, namely the S23 Ultra, the S23 Plus and the S23. It is also powered by Qualcomm Inc.'s SnapDragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which enhances speed, responsiveness and mobile gaming performance.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy S23 series has set a new record in preorders, selling 1.09 million units in South Korea in the week before its official release, surpassing the previous record held by the Galaxy S22 series with 1.01 million units sold.

To promote its latest smartphone, Samsung is running "Galaxy Experience Space" centers in 24 cities across 19 countries until the end of February, providing customers with the opportunity to test various features of the Galaxy S23 series.

"We have confirmed consumers' strong trust in the Galaxy brand through the initial market reaction of the Galaxy S23 series," said TM Roh, president and head of Samsung’s Mobile eXperience (MX) business. "We will continue to strive to provide mobile experiences based on innovation and sustainability."
