SK Telecom, a leading South Korean 5G services provider, announced on Sunday that it won two global awards: Global Telecom Awards 2022 and Leading Lights Awards 2022.
The Global Telecom Awards, embracing its 10th anniversary this year, is an awards event held by the global ICT research group "Informa" for outstanding and innovative telecom companies.
SK Telecom received an award in the "Ground Virtualization Imitative" category with the world-first bare-metal-based telco cloud-native core network commercialization technology.
The company was also selected as the "5G Service Provider of the Year" at the Leading Lights Award 2022 last Friday, an event hosted by Leading Lights, a media outlet specializing in the telecommunications sector.
It received good reviews for providing nationwide services based on 5G speed and quality. It was also praised for providing a wide range of services including '"A." (or A-dot) an artificial intelligence-based service, and "e-friends," the metaverse app introduced first among telecom services operators.
