Samsung C&T Corp., the construction and trading arm of Samsung Group, is set to build an infrastructure for maritime transportation of clean hydrogen and ammonia produced overseas.
The firm’s general trading unit and Korean shipping company KSS Line Ltd. signed an agreement for the sea transport of clean hydrogen and ammonia on Nov. 10.
The two parties will join forces to safely transport the chemicals, as well as secure carriers and vessels with eco-friendly propulsion systems.
Samsung C&T will build supply chains for the chemicals through its global trading network, while KSS Line, the only ammonia carrier in Korea, will be in charge of logistics.
The Samsung unit said it will strengthen its environmentally friendly business portfolio, which includes hydrogen, solar power and secondary battery materials.
