South Korea's LG Uplus Corp. announced on Tuesday that its university metaverse platform Uverse unveiled a dedicated metaverse campus called Meta Yonsei at Yonsei University's 139th-anniversary celebration last Saturday.
Uverse is a university-specific metaverse service that faithfully replicates a university campus in virtual space and offers customized features for events, lectures, group meetings, and seminars.
Meta Yonsei has implemented the entire Sinchon campus of Yonsei University, including the Underwood Hall, Centennial Memorial Hall, and open-air theater, through 3D modeling in the virtual space.
LG Uplus plans to expand functionalities on Meta Yonsei to integrate with the learning management system for course enrollment, team assignments, freshman welcoming events, alumni gatherings, and joint cheering events for regular athletic competitions.
