HD Hyundai units to showcase unmanned equipment at US expo

Hyundai Construction Equipment Co. and Hyundai Doosan Infracore Co., construction machinery subsidiaries of HD Hyundai Co., said on Friday they would participate in a major US trade show this month and display their latest unmanned and automated technology and eco-friendly equipment.

The companies will join Conexpo-Con/Agg 2023, one of the world’s three largest construction machinery exhibitions, which will be held in Las Vegas from Mar. 14 to 18. The event is expected to attract 1,800 exhibitors from around the world and 130,000 visitors.

The two units said they would expand their exhibition space by more than 50% compared to three years ago and showcase state-of-the-art equipment, solutions and services.

Hyundai Doosan Infracore will demonstrate an unmanned dozer equipped with "Concept X2," an upgraded version of its unmanned and automated solution "Concept X." It will also put on display a 1.7-ton mini-electric excavator that will be launched in South Korea in the first half of this year.

Hyundai Doosan Infracore’s Engine Business Division will unveil a hydrogen combustion engine and an electric vehicle (EV) battery pack that are planned to be commercialized in 2025.

Hyundai Construction Equipment will exhibit 28 models of construction machinery including eco-friendly equipment such as a 1.8-ton mini-electric excavator and a 15-ton hydrogen wheel excavator.

It will also operate a remote driving station that allows visitors to control a wheel loader parked in Georgia, which is about 2,900 km away from the exhibition booth.

An official from HD Hyundai said Conexpo is a great opportunity to see the future technology and market trends of global construction equipment.

“We will achieve our goal of becoming one of the top five global players by strengthening our competitiveness in unmanned/automated technology and eco-friendly products,” the official said.
