Kim Kyo Tae on Friday was reappointed to a fourth term as chief executive of Samjong KPMG, announced the South Korean unit of the global audit and advisory firm KPMG.
At an employees' general meeting on Friday, Samjong KPMG unanimously decided to again extend his four-year term through to May 2029.
If he completes his fourth term as CEO, Kim will have led KPMG’s Korean unit for 19 years. Kim, 66, joined Samjong KPMG in 1981.
“We deemed it necessary to maintain stable leadership amid stagnant growth in industries across the board and growing external uncertainty,” said Samjong KPMG.
The firm does not cap retirement age nor the number of reappointments of CEO.
In Korea’s M&A advisory market, Samjong KPMG ceded its No. 1 position to Samil PwC and slid to third place in the second quarter of this year, according to a league table compiled by The Korea Economic Daily’s capital market news outlet Market Insight and data provider FnGuide.
Samjong KPMG advised on 10 M&A deals worth 2.8 trillion won ($2.1 billion) in the second quarter, during which Samil PwC handled 29 M&A transactions worth a combined 4 trillion won.
