Naver D2SF invests in AI data generation startup

South Korea's top online platform Naver Corp. has invested in a startup with an artificial intelligence-generation solution that lowers the risk of sensitive data exposure.

Naver D2 Startup Factory (D2SF), a tech startup investment and support project, on Wednesday announced new investments worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in Cubig, a startup specializing in data generation and de-identification technology.

Cubig is a developer of an AI data generation solution using differential information protection technology that raises security by de-identifying sensitive data through injection of noise into data. The startup applied this technology to an AI model to devise the solution with high similarity to the original data while lowering the risk of exposure of sensitive information.

"Cubig's strength is fast and efficient data processing," D2SF said. "Early next year, we plan to complete an AI data sharing and analysis platform that automates data pre- and post-processing."

Moving into the building Naver D2SF@Gangnam in the upscale Seocho-dong neighborhood of southern Seoul, the startup promotes technological advancement and commercialization.

"We can turn data mired in issues such as sensitive information and corporate security into usable resources," Naver D2SF leader Yang Sang-hwan said. "We will provide essential solutions for creating safe generative AI."
