LG Electronics Inc. on Wednesday will release the portable screen and stand StanbyME Go, which targets the growing ranks of South Korea's campers as the device can be carried in a bag shaped like the number 007.
Electronics industry sources on Sunday said the company on Wednesday will unveil on its official website StanbyME Go, whose screen measures about 68 cm (27 inches) and is reportedly priced at 1 million ($755) to 1.1 million won.
The company's earlier model StanbyME has a stand attached to a large monitor usable for up to three hours on a single charge. StandbyMe Go has the same size monitor and stand but is differentiated by its integrated bag design.
Appearing in the 007-shaped bag, it has a large screen and a stand attached to one side of the bag. Opening the bag causes the screen to unfold, and the height is adjustable on the attached stand.
Analysts say StandbyME Go was designed for the growing number of campers nationwide as a product suitable for outdoor activities. On Friday, LG Electronics uploaded a teaser video of the device on its official Facebook and StandbyME Instagram accounts.
"StandbyME Go is not the successor to StandbyMe but a spin-off product," an industry source said. "It was designed to be used outdoors as well as at home and office."
