LG Elec to showcase eco-friendly cooling, heating solutions at ISH 2023

LG Electronics Inc. is aiming to expand its presence in the European air conditioning market with its high-efficiency heat pump cooling and heating systems and other customized solutions.

The South Korean electronics giant said on Sunday that it will participate in ISH 2023, the world’s largest cooling and heating exhibition, held in Frankfurt, Germany, from Mar. 13 to 17.

At its 489-square-meter booth, LG Electronics will display various products that use artificial intelligence (AI) and next-generation eco-friendly refrigerants to enhance energy efficiency and environmental performance.

One of the products is Therma V, an air-to-water heat pump (AWHP) system that uses heat energy from external air for cooling and heating.

The company said Therma V has been well received in Europe for its high output and low noise, with sales increasing by more than 120% compared to 2021.

Heat pump sales also doubled in more than two-thirds of European countries where LG Electronics operates its air conditioning business, including France, which has the highest heat pump installation rate.

Another item is Therma V R290 Monoblock, a new integrated indoor/outdoor unit heat pump that applies R290, a refrigerant with a global warming potential (GWP) of only 3. The company said it applied the next-generation eco-friendly refrigerant as part of its environmental, social and governance (ESG) management.

The company will also introduce Multi V AI, a commercial cooling and heating system air conditioner that automatically controls each indoor unit according to the energy target usage set by the user. The product was first launched in the domestic market last year.

“We will provide differentiated customer experiences with high-efficiency cooling and heating solutions that consider even the environment and strengthen our global air conditioning market strategy including Europe,” said Lee Jae-seong, head of LG Electronics’ Air Solution Business Division.
