LG Electronics unveils new OLED TV at Frieze LA

LG Electronics Inc. said on Sunday that it would launch its 2023 model LG OLED Evo TV globally next month, after showcasing it at Frieze LA, one of the world’s three major art fairs.

The South Korean company said visitors to Frieze LA, which opened in Los Angeles on Thursday, could enjoy non-fungible token (NFT) artworks through the new OLED TV.

LG Electronics collaborated with renowned artist Barry X Ball, who created an NFT sculpture of Pope John Paul II using the OLED Evo TV at the exhibition.

The artist said he was satisfied with the image quality delivered by LG’s technology. “Historic artworks were born when the best technology and artistic inspiration of the time were combined,” Mr. Ball said. The work can also be viewed on LG ArtLab, an NFT art trading platform launched by LG Electronics last year in the US market.

The company also sold the "culture" series, NFT works by famous US artist Jeremy Paul, on LG ArtLab recently.

The 2023 model LG OLED Evo TV features more sophisticated image processing and light control technology than previous models, according to LG Electronics. The 65-inch OLED Evo TV is up to 70% brighter than regular OLED TVs of the same size and reduces light reflection and screen glare.

“Our goal is to offer personalized customer journeys for art enthusiasts with LG OLED TV’s superior image quality and smart TV platforms,” said Oh Hye-won, executive director of HE brand communication at LG Electronics.
