Hyundai Eng. completes Lemba-Imbu water purification plant in DR Congo

Hyundai Engineering, a South Korean construction contractor, held a completion ceremony for the "Lemba-Imbu water purification plant phase 1 project" in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo) on Mar. 4. The company broke ground in Jul. 2019 and began supplying clean water after a ceremony in August last year.

Afterward, the construction of auxiliary facilities such as water reservoirs in addition to the plant, the comprehensive trial run and the training of the operators were all completed, before holding the completion ceremony on the day.

With the completion of the first phase of the project, the water purification plant will be able to supply 35,000 tons of clean water a day to about 400,000 local residents.

The entire cost of the construction was paid for by the Korea Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF), and the project will be carried out in three phases. Hyundai Engineering plans to participate in bidding for future phase 2 and 3 projects.
