Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) announced on Wednesday that it conducts an "Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Cooperation Project" in Baubau city, Indonesia, until June 30 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Indonesia.

The project is part of KOTRA's global ESG+ program, which identifies local needs of partner governments and donates products or provides technical training. The focus is on improving the digital usage of Hangul (the Korean alphabet) and cultivating information technology (IT) literacy among Baubau city government and the Baubau Hangul Academy.

KOTRA will hold a donation ceremony for digital document creation programs and educational IT devices for Indonesian communities; training for teachers and students at the Baubau Hangul Academy to use customized digital programs; and a seminar to strengthen the IT capabilities of Baubau city officials and young entrepreneurs.

"ESG activities are a good first step to establish close networking relationships with the Indonesian government and beneficiaries, as well as to promote Korean companies' products to gain a foothold in the local market," said Kim Jun-sung, KOTRA Surabaya Trade Center Director.
