Invest Korea, KOTRA's organization dedicated to attracting foreign investment, held an IR for Japanese companies interested in entering South Korea at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo on Thursday.
The South Korean government-run agency explained that the event aims to expand Japanese companies' investment in Korea in the wake of improved relations between Korea and Japan.
On the morning of the event, a roundtable of major investors was held, and in the afternoon, an investment attraction briefing session took place. A total of 207 people from 140 companies attended.
Executives of materials, parts and equipment companies in semiconductors, batteries and displays, including Sumitomo Chemical and Kanto Telephone Industries, participated in the investors roundtable.
The Japanese entrepreneurs discussed the results of their investment in Korea and future investment plans with KOTRA officials.
KOTRA promised to deliver and discuss difficulties and institutional suggestions to related ministries in the process of conducting specific investment projects.
"We expect Japanese companies to actively expand their investment in Korea after the Korea-Japan summit. We hope this briefing session to be a good opportunity for Japanese companies in key high-tech industries to confirm their investment in Korea after COVID-19," said Kim Tae-hyung, head of Invest Korea.
