South Korea's Hyundai AutoEver Corp. said on Tuesday that its Mobilgene Classic 2.0 software platform has become the first in South Korea to receive Automotive Software Process Improvement Capability eDterminationv(A-SPICE) Level 3 certification.
A-SPICE is a global vehicle software quality assessment system developed by automakers, with Germany’s Kugler Maag conducting the evaluations.
While levels range from 0 to 5, Level 3 is considered the highest attainable, as no company has been certified at Level 4 or above.
According to the German Association of the Automotive Industry, A-SPICE Level 3 reflects a systematic and managed approach to software processes at the organizational level.
Hyundai AutoEver earned Level 1 certification in 2021 and, after three years of development, skipped Level 2 to achieve Level 3.
Mobilgene Classic is Hyundai Motor Group’s standard platform for integrating and controlling in-vehicle communications and functions.
It's used in mass-produced models of Hyundai Motor Co., Kia Corp., and Hyundai Motor's premium brand Genesis.
The company began developing the software in 2012, with Mobilgene Classic 1.0 first applied in Hyundai’s Grandeur IG in 2016.
The updated version, Mobilgene Classic 2.0, was developed to meet enhanced safety and new feature requirements.
