Hyundai Motor Group’s electrification push under the direction of its Chairman Chung Euisun is more than paying off, with a slew of worldwide accolades for its battery-run vehicles.
Germany’s renowned automotive magazine Auto Bild recently picked the EV6 by Kia Corp. as the best all-electric vehicle, according to the South Korean auto giant on Monday.
Kia’s compact electric sport utility vehicle ranked top after scoring 580 in a total of seven tests for car platform, powertrain, driving performance, driving comfort, connectivity, environmental friendliness and cost competitiveness, Hyundai Motor Group said.
It beat global peers such as Skoda Enyaq Coupe and Nissan Ariya.
Its luxury marque sibling GV60 by Genesis, which shares the same EV-dedicated platform, the so-called E-GMP, was also highly praised by the German auto magazine, the Korean auto group said.
The GV60 topped the powertrain test with a 104 score, followed by the EV6 with 103.
But the EV6 did better than its luxury sibling in other tests such as driving performance and cost competitiveness.
As a result, the GV60 ranked third with 576 in total score after Skoda’s Enyaq Coupe with 577, according to Auto Bild’s test results.

HYUNDAI MOTOR GROUP POPULARIZES EVS
Hyundai Motor Group’s EVs have been garnering praise from around the world, one after another over the past few years.
The Electrified GV70, an electric SUV from Genesis, won the top spot in another EV segment test by Auto Bild in June after beating the Audi Q8 e-tron and Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV.
The IONIQ 5 by Hyundai Motor Co. also topped the best EV car lists of other multiple renowned auto testing organizations and media outlets worldwide.
Their achievements are largely owing to group-wide efforts to rapidly shift from traditional combustion engine cars to future mobility technology under Chairman Chung’s leadership.
Prestigious US automobile media outlet MotorTrend in January this year said that Hyundai Motor Group has been successfully “democratizing” EVs “with a wide variety of models, both styles and price points” after it named Chung Euisun Person of the Year on its 2023 Power List.
It chose Chung as this year’s most influential figure in the auto industry for “leading Hyundai into a new age of automaking through innovation and visionary thinking.”
