Hyundai Motor Co. on Thursday unveiled the design of the GV60, the luxury Genesis brand’s first electric vehicle that sits on the E-GMP, the automaker’s dedicated EV platform.
The GV60 is positioned on the same platform as the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Kia Corp.’s EV6, Hyundai Motor Group’s two latest electric models.
According to the teaser images of the small crossover utility vehicle (CUV), the GV60 looks like a tall hatchback but comes with a few upscale touches.

Hyundai said the GV60 employs the Genesis brand's "Athletic Elegance" design throughout, including signature quad light fixtures upfront, matching taillights in the rear and a shield-shaped grille.
For the first time under the Genesis brand, the GV60 will have a “clamshell hood,” a single panel that combines the hood and fenders, creating a sleek impression for the EV model by removing seams between the parts.
Its long clamshell hood and low ride give it the look of a coupe-style luxury CUV, according to Hyundai.

Also, for the first time, Genesis employs digital side mirrors that use exterior-mounted cameras to project an image atop two screens at the base of the A-pillar.
Its new wing emblem applied to the grille is 80% thinner than Genesis’ previous models.
The most noticeable feature in GV60’s interior design, Hyundai said, is the Crystal Sphere, a sphere-shaped shift knob.

When the vehicle is turned off, the Crystal Sphere becomes the vehicle’s mood lighting and while driving, the sphere rotates and the shift knob appears, according to Hyundai.
The automaker said it will reveal GV60's driving range, performance and prices in the coming months ahead of its launch later this year.
