GenAI startup Wrtn’s cumulative subscribers exceed 1 million

South Korean generative AI startup Wrtn Technologies announced on Tuesday that it has surpassed one million cumulative subscribers to its service.

Wrtn launched its chat-based AI service in Jan. this year. The number of subscribers reached 100,000 in March, 300,000 in May and recently crossed the 1 million mark at the beginning of this month.

The company attributes this growth to offering free access to OpenAI's large language model (LLM) GPT-4 and Google's PaLM 2, along with introducing Wrtn Studio to assist in AI service creation.

Currently, new features have been added, including a personal AI agent, a revamped main screen and plugins. The personal AI agent is a tailored service that helps users achieve their AI-related goals.

It started with an automatic selection of domestic and international business news and will soon include AI agents in various fields such as sports, shopping and more. The main screen now offers AI-based content beyond chat-based interactions, including English learning, famous quotes, fortune-telling and more.

Last month, the open beta service for plugins was launched, allowing external companies' application programming interfaces (APIs) to be integrated with the LLM. This enables users to access external services in areas like travel, restaurants, and job searching within the Wrtn app.

The Wrtn Developers Center feature, which allows developers to create AI apps based on Wrtn's LLM, has also been enhanced.

"We will continue to make it possible for even more people to experience generative AI, and we aim to lead the market as the 'next portal' centered around the AI ecosystem," Wrtn CEO Lee Se-young said.
