South Korea’s recycling specialist SK Geo Centric on Monday said its CEO Na Kyung-soo will attend the next day the Choose France summit at the Palace of Versailles.

Launched by French President Emmanuel Macron, the event invites the heads of major global corporations to attract investment in and stimulate the French economy.

Through this summit, Na will speak to the executives of companies related to a plastic recycling plant being set up in France and discuss related cooperation. In addition, he will inform President Macron and French political and business figures of the importance of plastic recycling and request their collaboration.

In 2022, SK Geo Centric signed a joint venture agreement with the French water resources and waste management company Suez and the Canadian recycling technology company Loop Industries to build a plastic recycling plant in Europe. By 2027, the three companies will invest 450 million euros (655.4 billion won) to build a recycling plastic processing plant with annual capacity of 70,000 tons in the Saint-Avold region of France.

The European Union by 2030 will require that production of plastic bottles use at least 30% recycled materials.

SK Geo Centric is accelerating its advance into Europe in its bid to become the world’s top recycled materials company.

“We will contribute to stimulation of the circular economy,” Na said.

About 270 representatives from major global companies including Coca-Cola, Pfizer and Toyota will attend this summit in 2023.
