South Korea's Kakao Mobility announced on Wednesday that it partnered with Hoban Hotels & Resorts to operate the robot delivery service Bring at the Restree Resom Hotel in Jecheon, North Chungcheong Province, South Korea.
Bring is a robot delivery service launched by Kakao Mobility in April this year.
Kakao Mobility explained that optimizing the allocation of complex delivery orders, minimized the need for manager intervention while maximizing the robots' movement efficiency.
The platform's control capabilities make it versatile enough to operate in existing buildings not designed with robots in mind, such as offices, hotels, hospitals, and residential areas.
After conducting a proof of concept (PoC) at Restree Resom, Kakao Mobility began offering beverage delivery services during the day and room amenity delivery services at night starting on Aug. 5. The company also plans to introduce simple meal deliveries.
Kakao Mobility expects that through the services provided within Resom, which features about 200 guestrooms and various facilities including food and beverage services, it will be able to refine a delivery robot scenario optimized for resort environments.
Guests at the resort can use the robot delivery service without downloading a separate app. By scanning a QR code provided in each room with their smartphones, they can access the Resom order web.
Once the robot arrives at the room, guests can enter the provided password to receive the items they ordered. Room information is pre-entered, so there is no need to input a destination. Customers receive information about the robot's departure and arrival via text message.
Kakao Mobility explained that the successful implementation of the resort's robot delivery service was made possible through the robot open API platform Bring-On.
By integrating Restree Resom's order web with Bring-On, it became possible to allocate the optimal robot and automate the delivery service, taking into account various factors within the resort and the status of the robots.
