Cosmax Inc., South Korea's cosmetics original design manufacturing (ODM) company, announced on Monday that it will unveil a cosmetics raw material brand "The Arum Green Java," extracted from indigenous plants in Indonesia.
The company has already completed the trademark application for this brand in both Korea and Indonesia.
Cosmax revealed that it has developed the first material for "The Arum" brand through joint research with the local Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).
The material, known as Green Java, is cultivated in areas at an altitude of 800 to 2,000 meters. It contains sapogenins, flavonoids, tannins, and phytosterols, which help alleviate acne symptoms and promote skin whitening.
Cosmax has also signed research agreements with prestigious Indonesian universities such as the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), the University of Indonesia, and Gadjah Mada University for joint research on utilizing local indigenous plants as cosmetics raw materials.
Based on these collaborations, the company plans to accelerate the acquisition of differentiated raw materials and unveil around 10 new materials within this year.
"The latest raw material development is the result of synergy between K-beauty's technology prowess and localized research," the head of Cosmax Indonesia Cheong Min-Kyung said.
"We will continue to discover new materials that can lead the global beauty market in Indonesia, which is the world's fourth most populous country and the third-largest tropical rainforest country after the Amazon in Brazil and the Congo basin."
