LIG Nex1, Palantir join forces on AI weaponry

LIG Nex1 Co., a leading South Korean defense contractor, is teaming up with US artificial intelligence (AI) specialist Palantir Technologies to develop advanced weapon systems leveraging big data.

The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Thursday to leverage Palantir’s data management platform in the development of various systems including unmanned surface vehicles, small synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites, mine clearance, and electromagnetic spectrum operations (EMSO).

LIG Nex1 said it expects Palantir’s platform, known for its ability to integrate, manage, and analyze large datasets, will be instrumental in developing future weapon systems where software is a critical component.

By combining Palantir’s technology with its expertise in unmanned systems including Sea Sword (unmanned surface vehicle), space, and electronic warfare, LIG Nex1 aims to bolster its research and development capabilities for future battlefields.
