LG Electronics launches AI-powered LG Gram laptop

South Korean electronics giant LG Electronics Inc. announced on Friday its plans to launch the AI-powered LG Gram laptop, featuring Intel's next-generation Core Ultra processor.

This marks Intel's first chip to include an AI Boost - a specialized semiconductor neural processing unit (NPU) dedicated to AI calculations, enabling independent operations even without network connectivity.

The LG Gram's graphics performance has been doubled compared to its predecessor, thanks to improved power efficiency achieved through Foveros, a 3D stacking solution for semiconductor packaging.

Additionally, the laptop introduces Gram Link software, allowing users to connect up to 10 smartphones or tablets regardless of operating system constraints.

This feature facilitates file transfers without the need for internet or router connections and minimizes security risks associated with cloud storage and file transfers.

The laptop also incorporates an AI model capable of facial detection and recognition, along with a clustering algorithm that sorts photos and videos into 38 categories based on person, time, and location.

LG Electronics plans to offer a limited sale of 1,000 units through its Online Brand Shop (OBS) from December 18 to 29. The sale includes 700 units of the 16-inch (40.6 cm) model and 300 units of the 17-inch (43.1 cm) model.
