NHN Cloud to boost mobile games operations in Japan

South Korea's NHN Cloud on Friday said that at this year's Game Tools & Middleware Forum (GTMF) in Japan, it gave a presentation on security breaches and responses on the South Korean mobile game market.

Marking its 17th edition this year, the GTMF is a conference on the Japanese game industry featuring tools and middleware that support game development through booths and presentation tracks. The two-day fair was held in Osaka on June 30 and Tokyo on Tuesday, attracting 28 game solution vendors.

Due to accelerated digital transformation since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Japanese mobile game market is growingly exposed to cyberattacks such as hacking and abuse, thus interest in security is growing from companies in the sector.

At the event, NHN Cloud shared its expertise on how Japanese mobile game companies can effectively deal with abusive behavior in games.

In its presentation, NHN Cloud discussed security breaches that can occur in game apps and solutions like its mobile app protection solution NHN AppGuard.

Specifically, the company covered the state of the South Korean mobile game market, types of security breach by major genre, major case studies of such breaches, security measures, introduction to NHN AppGuard, and guidance to protect game services and users from external attacks.

Offering NHN AppGuard in Japan from 2022, NHN Cloud will offer the solution for games like "Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier" by the famous Japanese game developer ATeam and "Run for Money" by Litmus, an affiliate of Japan's largest multi-channel network and YouTuber-related label company UUUM.

Recently, NHN AppGuard was also supplied for use in "Yo-Kai Watch: Puni Puni," a hit puzzle game in Japan jointly developed by smartphone game developer NHN PlayArt, an affiliate of NHN Japan Corp., the Japanese subsidiary of NHN Entertainment Corp., and Japanese video game maker and publisher Level-5.

In South Korea, over 1,300 clients use NHN AppGuard like game companies NCSoft Corp., 111Percent and CloverGames as well as Millie's Library, Blockchain Labs and Yellow Balloon Tour.
