South Korea’s top search portal Naver Corp. said on Friday that it had received a global certification for its compliance management system from Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), a leading assurance provider.
The certification, known as ISO 37301, is an international standard that evaluates whether a company has a systematic and effective policy and system for legal compliance and risk management.
Naver said it was the first internet company in South Korea to obtain the certification, which covers online platform services, artificial intelligence research and development and corporate governance.
A Naver official said the certification showed the company’s efforts to set up a dedicated compliance organization, conduct internal audits and manage crises in an integrated way.
He also said that Naver would keep responding to the changing demands of its stakeholders and make practical improvements.
