BC Card shows one-stop payment int'l network at MWC 2023

BC Card, the only credit card company from South Korea taking part in this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, is displaying at the event its self-developed digital payment platform technology and mobile-based global payment network system.

For the first time since 2014-15, BC Card is participating at the MWC and its theme this time is "uninterrupted cross-border payments." With its exhibition hall within the booth of its main shareholder KT, BC Card is displaying its simple payment solution Pay-Z; BC Gateway, an intermediary system for cross-border payment information; and BAIS (a system specifically to approve global card transactions and issue their statements.

When a merchant registers and sells a product through the page and makes a mobile payment anywhere in the world, BC Card brokers payment data between the seller and the card issuer using a gateway through a cross-border network. The seller can settle the payment through BAIS.

BC Card is displaying all of these payment processes at its MWC exhibition hall for visitors.

BC Card is using this technology in KT Group's project to build a cross-border payment network under the goal of stimulating global mobile payments in cooperation with KT, which provides telecommunication services to over 200 countries.

"We showed through MWC 2023 that BC Card's payment technology can be used anywhere worldwide," said BC Card CEO Choi Won-seok. "We will continue our pursuit of taking an early lead in the overseas payment and settlement market by building cross-border payment infrastructure."
