South Korea's POSCO was ranked number one as the world’s most competitive steelmakers for 14 straight years by the global steel analytics World Steel Dynamics (WSD), the company announced on Thursday.
According to POSCO, WSD released World-Class Steelmaker Rankings on Dec. 18. WSD announced that it selected POSCO as the No. 1 steelmaker.
WSD, established in 1975, evaluates global steelmakers in 23 categories every year and announces their competitiveness rankings.
POSCO scored a perfect 10 in six categories including technical innovation, processing cost, manpower capability, investment environment, national risk factors, and upstream/non-steel industry. The average point was 8.62 out of 10.
WSD acknowledged POSCO's commitment to sustainability as a key contributor to its success. The company's vision of a "Better World with Green Steel" and its dedication to producing low-carbon steel were highlighted as significant factors in its remarkable achievement.
