HD KSOE reaches 50% of order target in two months

South Korea’s top shipbuilder HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) announced on Monday that it signed shipbuilding contracts worth a total of 586.6 billion won ($440 million).

The company won contracts with two medium-sized liquefied petroleum gas carriers (LPGCs) from a European shipping company and four petrochemical carriers (PC ships) from an Oceania-based shipping firm.

The LPGCs and PC ships will be constructed at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co. in Ulsan and Hyundai Vietnam Shipyard. The vessels are scheduled to be delivered to the shipowners by December 2026 and June 2027.

HD KSOE, HD Hyundai Group’s intermediate holding company for the shipbuilding business, has secured a total of 58 vessels, amounting to $7.16 billion this year, achieving 53% of its annual target of $13.5 billion.

HD KSOE inked deals to produce six LPGCs, 21 PC ships, 21 LPG and ammonia carriers, one ethane carrier, two liquefied carbon dioxide carriers, two very large crude carriers (VLCCs), two tankers, two pure car and truck carriers (PCTC); and 1 offshore facility.
