South Korea's Hyundai Department Store Co. said on Monday that its pop-up stores of the three virtual idol groups at The Hyundai Seoul attracted over 100,000 visitors in a month.
The sales of the pop-ups to showcase Isegye Idol, StelLive, and Plave ran from Feb. 15 to Mar. 17 exceeded 7 billion won ($5.25 million).
According to the department store industry, a typical pop-up store in the fashion sector generates about 1 billion won in monthly sales.
Located in Yeouido, The Hyundai Seoul is a prime venue for such pop-up events, with over 56% of its last year's sales originating from customers in the metropolitan area, residing over 10 km away.
The entertainment-related pop-up sales, including those from virtual idol promotions, accounted for 72.3% of the metropolitan area's total sales.
