Zinus Inc., the mattress-making affiliate of South Korea's Hyundai Department Store Group, on Monday reported record-high domestic sales last year of 51.6 billion won ($39.6 million) based on supplier prices, up 66.4% from 2021.

Zinus attributed its stellar performance to diversification of sales channels by introducing products tailored to Korea and collaboration with major group affiliates like Hyundai Department Store Co.. New showrooms were opened at the department store's branches in Seoul's Sinchon neighborhood and the cultural complex D-Cube City in the city's Sindorim area.

The number of consumers who visited pop-up or temporary stores run by Zinus at seven sales outlets at the mall The Hyundai Seoul and the department store's branches in the capital's Cheonho-dong neighbohood, Korea International Exhibition Center aka KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, and Ulsan approached 400,000 after September last year.

The expansion of Zinus' online presence was also a major factor. Hyundai Department Store’s official online mall thehyundai.com and the welfare mall of software company Hyundai Ezwel each have a Zinus section.

Added to the group in May last year, Zinus introduced products tailored to Korean consumers, the first time that it released products exclusively for a country.

"By combining user reviews and customer responses, we released products with stable (mattress) support and solid firmness that consumers like," a Zinus source said.

The mattress maker seeks to boost domestic sales to 300 billion won by 2025.
