German asset management giant DWS Group said on Dec. 5 that it has appointed DWS Asset Management Korea’s Director Steven Kim (Kim Sang-wook) as head of real estate asset management for the Asia-Pacific region.

Kim will lead DWS AM’s regional investment strategies and environmental, social and governance (ESG) management as well as collaborate with the offices in Australia, Japan, South Korea and Singapore. He directly reports to Christopher Kimm, head of real estate, Asia-Pacific.

He will also manage large-scale real estate development and renovation projects in the APAC region.

Kim has managed a total of 27 real estate portfolios investing in office, logistics, retail and others since he joined DWS in 2008.

He worked for Samsung Life Insurance Co. between 2000 and 2008, managing around 20 development projects including prime offices and upscale residential properties such as Samsung Life Insurance headquarters and Tower Palace III.

Prior to that, Kim worked for Samsung C&T Corp., Samsung Group's construction and engineering unit, between 1996 and 2000.

Kim said he will make his best efforts to meet DWS AM’s target assets under management (AUM), as well as achieve the firm’s investment goals together with the local APAC branches.
