Construction of the propylene and polypropylene facility at the Polimery Police complex is nearing completion as the single largest order won by a South Korean builder in Europe.
Hyundai Engineering on Monday said it held a commemorative event for the pilot production of polypropylene at the plant in Police, Poland.
Those in attendance included Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Tomasz Hinc, president of the management board of the client Grupa Azote, Hyundai Engineering CEO Hong Hyun-seong and Lee Kang-hoon, president of the government-run Korea Overseas Infrastructure Urban Development Corp.
Ordered in 2019, the project is to build a polypropylene plant with annual capacity of 400,000 tons and auxiliary infrastructure. The venture cost 1.5 trillion won ($1.1 billion) and covers 396,000 square meters, an area equal to 55 soccer fields.
