The US-based OpenAI and Korea Development Bank (KDB) on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to support the development of South Korea's artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem.

This collaboration marks OpenAI's first MOU in South Korea. The two companies aim to support the innovation and growth of the country's AI industry.

OpenAI and KDB have agreed to work to invigorate the Korean AI ecosystem by supporting AI startups and improving Korean language performance.

They will collaborate on developing AI models that are suited to the Korean language context and also explore the potential for building data centers in South Korea.
