South Korea's LG Uplus Corp. said on Wednesday that it will offer its web-based in-car game service Game Portal in Kia Corp's electric vehicle (EV) the Kia EV3.
It's the first time that Game Portal will be available in a domestic brand vehicle.
LG Uplus said the advantage of Game Portal is that it allows users to easily play games on the vehicle's built-in display without downloading an app.
Game Portal offers eight games from mobile game company Mobirix, including Tower Defense King, Bricks Breaker Quest, and Marble Mission.
Users can access these games by logging into the Kia Connect Store website and purchasing the arcade game's digital specifications.
For safety reasons, the games cannot be operated while driving and can only be played when the vehicle is stationary or waiting for a charge.
LG Uplus said it developed Game Portal with the belief that cars could become a gaming platform in the era of fully autonomous vehicles and plans to expand the service to other Kia models.
