Doosan Bobcat, the construction and agricultural machine manufacturer of South Korea’s Doosan Group, has commercialized hydrogen-powered forklifts for the first time in the country.
The first hydrogen forklift from Doosan Bobcat is a 3-ton model equipped with a 20-kW output fuel cell.
After undergoing tests at the Korea Construction Equipment Technology Institute, it will be delivered to the Korea Zinc Onsan smelting factory.
While hydrogen forklifts in prototype form have been previously showcased, this marks the first time Doosan Bobcat has released a complete product with the aim of commercialization.
Doosan Bobcat is participating in the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy's pilot project for Demonstration-based reliability verification technology development for the commercialization of hydrogen forklifts.
Once certification is completed for a 3-ton model with a 10-kW output fuel cell later this year, the company aims to supply a total of more than 30 hydrogen forklifts.
Additionally, it plans to diversify its hydrogen forklift product line with 2-ton and 5-ton models.
