South Korean battery materials manufacturer EcoPro Co. announced on Tuesday that it has established a "Global Resources Office" to expedite the acquisition of crucial resources needed for the production of secondary battery materials such as lithium and nickel.
The Global Resources Office plans to actively pursue the securing of essential minerals like lithium and nickel through investments in mining stakes, long-term supply contracts and potential partnerships with overseas companies for investments in refineries and mines.
As part of its strategic approach, EcoPro aims to reinforce investments not only in Indonesia, where it has previously invested but also in resource-rich countries such as Australia. This proactive investment strategy is aimed at securing resources preemptively.
"Securing minerals requires a significant investment and entails high risks. Given the need for a long-term and specialized investment plan, we established the Global Resources Office within the holding company," said an EcoPro official.
